Ice, ice, baby!

This week, we started our brand new topics about winter and the Arctic. And what a perfect week to start, the temperature dropped so much that we were able to see what happens to water when it gets cold. The children investigated how ice feels, breaks and melts. They loved how the top of the tough spot was frozen, but they could see the water moving underneath. Then they used different tools to break the ice. Some held it in their hands to feel how cold it was, some used it to slide down the drain pipes and others used it to make ice towers. We even found that the ground was frozen too. We hope we get some more cold days and hopefully some snow that lays on the ground!
