At Balby Central Primary Academy we have a whole-school inclusive approach towards special educational needs and disabilities. These are categorised within the four main categories of the SEN Code of Practice (2014)
- Communication and interaction
- Cognition and learning
- Social, emotional and mental health
- Sensory and / or physical
We work together with all children and their parents using information about the individual child to design appropriate programmes for children identified with SEN including:
- providing personalised starting points
- support within the class
- assessing the level of learning difficulties in each particular area
- ensuring that on-going observations/ assessments provide regular feedback on achievements to inform the next steps in learning
- joint home-school learning approach
Our aim is to develop independent life-long learners so that all children have opportunity to be successful. Teams we work closely with include:-
- School nursing service
