Where do we live?

Date: 29th Nov 2020 @ 9:04pm

In Geography Year 1 have been learning about where they live. They looked at different landmarks in both Balby and Doncaster. They got creative and used Lego to build different landmarks. The children loved exploring what was in their home town so we moved on to learning about the capital city! They recognised that the landmarks were much bigger and that London was much busier. We went on a ‘virtual tour’ of the places we had learnt about then the children had to find all the landmarks and label them.

Date: 29th Nov 2020 @ 8:59pm

In Art Year 1 have been learning all about mixing colours, tints and tones and brush strokes using paint. They studied the artist David Hockney and looked at his art to take inspiration from. The children used mirrors to look at their own faces to ensure they used the correct shades of paint and shape of their features. As you can see from the image the artists of Year 1 created some fantastic pieces of art.
