Extreme weather!

The children have been learning about different types of weather.  We learnt about climates and the expected weather for a desert climate, an arctic climate and a tropical climate.  Then we focused on the extreme types of weather that may occur in these climates.

The Postman's Journey

The children in Year 2 have been writing about the postman's journey from the book The Jolly Postman.  We have been trying to include adjectives and adverbs as well as using the senses to add more detail to our writing.

Telling the time!

IMG_2692[1].JPGWe have been learning how to tell the time this week.  We looked at o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to times.  Some children even moved on to telling the time to 5 minutes!

SATS & Phonics screening

Year 2 have been working exceptionally hard over the past couple of weeks to complete their mock SATS tests. Having missed their phoincs screening tests last year, they have all taken their Year 1 phonics screening test this week and have impressed us with their hard work and confidence!

Well done Year 2 you made us all proud! 

Henri Rousseau Rainforest Collage

In class we have been preparing our backgrounds for our collage inspired by Henri Rousseau.  We think the children have made an excellent start!

Subtracting multiples of ten

In Maths, we have been learning to subtract multiples of 10  from any 2 digit number using known facts and dienes. We noticed that when we subtract multiples of ten only the tens digit changes. The ones digit stays the same.

Year 2 Neil Armstrong

In History, we have being learning about significant people from the past. This week we have been learning about Neil Armstrong. We have learned that he was the commander of the Apollo 11 space shuttle and the first man to walk on the moon in 1969.  The children had to explain why he was an important person from the past and think of questions that they would like to have asked him.
