Edible eruptions

Date: 26th Jan 2022 @ 4:33pm

This week in DT we were set the technical challenge of creating an edible, erupting volcano cake using rock buns as the main cake structure.

We needed to test a variety of different edible materials to avoid a soggy bottom after the eruption. We also needed to make sure the eruption didn’t make the cake inedible so we tried different fizzy drinks to see which was the tastiest and most effective eruption!

Let's investigate!

Date: 10th Dec 2021 @ 3:02pm

This half term we have been looking at changes over time.... Our focus was decomposition.  We tested everyday objects to see which would decompose the first outdoors.  We predicted the orange but how wrong were we? The Banana was definately the fastest and the most disgusting!

2d to 3D

Date: 26th Nov 2021 @ 2:28pm

In line with our focus text the 'Iron man' we have linked our art project to the metal monster.  First we made a 2 d frame .  Then we manipulated wire to build up the frame to make a 3d sculpture of him.

Magnetic or not

Date: 26th Nov 2021 @ 2:19pm

This week we have been investigating magnets and have been on the hunt around our school environment finding magnetic materials and objects.  We were quite surprised to find out that not all the metal objects we found were actually magnetic!

Willy Wonka's chocolate investigation

Date: 19th Nov 2021 @ 2:22pm

This week we have been learning about solids, liquids and gases.  Willy Wonka set us a challenge to find out what the best way to make a chocolate river was.  We had to use our new knowledge of how to change a solid to a liquid.  We also needed to take into account how to keep the chocolat in liquid form.Chocolate.jpeg
